5000 Monthly Website Visitors = $120,000 Monthly Revenue

Kyle Vamvouris is the founder of Vouris, a sales consulting company that helps B2B software and service companies increase sales by building sales processes 🤓

The company apparently generates $1.4 million in annual revenue despite only having "roughly 5,000 monthly website visitors" 🤯

In a recent interview Kyle writes

I started cold calling as an SDR [sales development representative] at Intuit. 10 months later I was promoted to an account executive.

I decided to write a book in 2017 called Cold to Committed, to teach SDRs how to book meetings through cold outbound prospecting.

Kyle had success growing teams and revenue at several startups, which made it clear he was onto something.

So I started my own sales consulting company. I didn’t take a pay check for 10 months, which was very scary as the sole income earner for my family.

Fortunately, I was able to leverage my sales experience to get initial customers and that helped me develop an offer that my buyers wanted.

In the early days, Kyle leveraged his sales skills to find clients but struggled with his offer. He kept iterating until he figured out what worked 💪

Vouris now has two flagship programs…

  • The Nest: Group coaching for founders looking to build a repeatable sales process.

  • Accelerate: Hands-on consulting where Vouris acts as the client's executive revenue team to build a repeatable sales process.

In the first year, Vouris did $600,000 in revenue, blowing past Kyle's initial goal of $150,000 🚀

Looks like two things helped with growth…

Kyle notes…

SEO has historically been our biggest driver of new business. I didn’t hire an agency or freelancer, I just focused on writing really good content that answered very specific questions that people were searching for.

5000 visitors per month to Kyle's website doesn't sound like much, but his offers are high ticket and he’s focused on B2B sales, so plenty of money there 💰

His site ranks for keywords like…

Great keywords to rank for as a sales consultant 👌

Goes to show that you don’t really need a ton of traffic to earn a big income.

You just need the right people landing on your site and a high-ticket offer that appeals to them.

(It wouldn't even need to be your own product; you could do something like this with affiliate marketing or lead generation as well.)

💬 Last words from Kyle…

I’ve never worried about giving too much away for free. What I have found is that giving great material away for free, builds a lot of trust with your audience. So I intend to keep doing that.

I am currently using the Authority Hacker Pro course and have implemented a lot of the training (they call them Blueprints). As a result of implementing what I learned in the course, the traffic to my site has doubled in 4 months. After 12 months, I replaced my job income and I’m now working full-time on my site.

$10,000/Month with His Bootstrapped Media Empire

Arvid Kahl is a serial entrepreneur who co-founded, bootstrapped, and sold FeedbackPanda and now runs The Bootstrapped Founder.

FeedbackPanda was a SaaS for teachers that Arvid and his partner grew to $55,000/mo 🤑

Now, Arvid is building a media empire that brings in over $10,000 per month on average.

He recently tweeted

Want to know how much I make?

Here's what The Bootstrapped Founder generates in income at this point, late 2023, three years into its existence.

He goes on to break down his monthly earnings from ~ 15 different sources 😎 including platforms like Amazon, Gumroad and Udemy.

Someone crunched the numbers and responded

Monthly minimum is: $7,920.50
Monthly maximum is: $16,520.50

So easily $10,000+ on average.

Arvid's income sources are a great example of diversification and how you can distribute content across platforms if you’re doing it solo or have a small team.

Some of the platforms he uses...

  • Lists his paperback and ebooks on Amazon KDP.

  • Makes ebook/audiobook available via Gumroad, Draft2Digital.

  • Lists his courses on Gumroad, Udemy, Skillshare.

  • Sells consulting/services via Gumroad.

  • Podcast and newsletter sponsorships.

  • Twitter, YouTube ad revenue.

He adds…

My goal is to have at least 20 revenue streams (at this granularity level) at all times.

The main goal of diversifying here is to reduce dependence on any particular channel.

In another tweet Arvid writes

And still, beyond all this, I still feel the pressure of platform risk.

Seems it's hard to avoid it completely 😕

But it might be worth your while looking through Arvid's income sources and getting some inspiration for ways you could diversify your business.

A Tale of Two Investors

🗂 From the archive, published July 2021…

Two investors start with $100,000 each 💰💰

  • Investor A is consistent, growing her money by 10% every year without fail.

  • Investor B is up and down, making a 30% gain one year, a 10% loss the next, in perpetuity.

So every two years, they would both seem to average out to a 20% gain.

But fast-forward 50 years, and their returns look like this:

  • Investor A: $11.7 million

  • Investor B: $5.1 million

The takeaway: you don’t need big flashy wins to achieve outstanding results. Just rack up small wins consistently and let time do the rest.

What small win can you rack up today? 🤔

This Toy Coach Earns $100K+ Per Year

Azhelle Wade worked for years as a toy designer after graduating with a degree in toy design.

But after a decade in the corporate toy world, Azhelle decided it was time for a change.

She launched a new business called The Toy Coach, dedicated to helping others develop, create and market toys for kids 👶

She shares in a recent interview

After the pandemic, my priority changed. I decided that I wanted to try my hand at entrepreneurship.

That’s when she started her podcast and YouTube channel 🚀

Then…

I launched a course called Toy Creators Academy and now I have this full circle moment where I am teaching people how to develop kids’ products, which is what I always wanted to do.

She adds…

I created the course because, when I was working full-time in the toy industry, I met somebody who said they had an amazing idea for a game.

I asked them to provide me with information so I could pitch the game to my boss, and they just didn't know what I needed. They needed a lot of help, a lot of guidance. And I just didn't have the time to help them.

Azhelle also works one-on-one with clients to help them create, produce and sell their kids' products.

My revenue is about 50% from my course and 50% from 1:1 clients. Toy Creators Academy started in September of 2020.

Through her coaching services, online course, podcast and YouTube channel, Azhelle says…

I’m generating 6 figures per year, and I’m getting closer and closer to my goal of multiple six figures per year.

Her number one marketing strategy is the weekly podcast, with a twist 👇

the unique marketing strategy that I'm probably using that others don't use as much would have to be transcribing my podcast…

I found that it’s better to do more solo episodes that are more scripted, and having transcriptions of those scripted solo episodes is really valuable to my SEO. Focusing on SEO so far has been a great thing in my business.

I love how Azhelle has transitioned her corporate experience into an online business.

Could you do something similar? 🤔

Azhelle's advice for getting started…

keep things lean and affordable… Do it with a small team, use the free or cheap platforms out there for your email and for your website.

Sam Altman: What Successful People Say

Back in 2019, Sam Altman – the main man behind ChatGPT and OpenAI, which could be worth as much as $90 billion – published an article called How To Be Successful.

In there, he shares and expands on 13 thoughts…

  1. Compound yourself

  2. Have almost too much self-belief

  3. Learn to think independently

  4. Get good at “sales”

  5. Make it easy to take risks

  6. Focus

  7. Work hard

  8. Be bold

  9. Be willful

  10. Be hard to compete with

  11. Build a network

  12. You get rich by owning things

  13. Be internally driven

He writes about #9…

Almost always, the people who say “I am going to keep going until this works, and no matter what the challenges are I’m going to figure them out”, and mean it, go on to succeed.

They are persistent long enough to give themselves a chance for luck to go their way.

And…

To be willful, you have to be optimistic—hopefully this is a personality trait that can be improved with practice. I have never met a very successful pessimistic person.

Btw, Sam Altman jumped on Joe Rogan's podcast last week.

$2000/Month Freelancer Building A Niche Site

🗂 From the archive, published January 2023…

Lukas Cech runs a niche website called NimbleCamper.com 👈

The tag line…

Your guide to car camping in everyday cars. Make your car your bedroom and the outdoors your living room.

Lukas started the site about 2 years ago and has gotten it to ~31,000 monthly page views, ranking in Google for terms like DIY Car camping conversions.

The site earns a few hundred dollars a month via display ads and affiliate links 💵

But before starting that site, Lukas built up his freelance web design business.

He told me via email…

After quitting 9-to-5, I didn’t have a plan on how to earn my living. I set off on a 2 year trip across South America and Asia, volunteering in animal rescue centers, climbing volcanoes and hitchhiking, until I decided it was time to slow down and start making money.

I started making WordPress websites for 100 EUR from a hostel in Buenos Aires (doing some basic SEO research and targeting this “budget web design” niche helped me get to #1 on Google (Slovak market) and including the price in my SEO description helped with my clickthrough rate.

Lukas now earns about $2000 per month from freelance web design and website maintenance for clients.

In the recent two years, I’ve been actively reducing the number of hours I spend working whilst increasing the hourly rate. I work about 10 hours a week on clients’ projects, which gives me a lot of freedom to work on my other projects, exercise, relax or travel.

Case in point: I recently met up with Lukas when he drove through Andorra 🇦🇩 on his way from Slovakia 🇸🇰 to the south of Spain 🇪🇸 where he will be escaping the winter while house sitting for a few weeks.

He’s a great example of the progression I usually recommend to people new to making money online

Lukas is investing a good chunk of his free time building up his niche site. I expect that will earn him much more per month than his freelance work in due time.

Thanks to Fardeen Khan for helping me write and research today's newsletter.

Hasta la próxima, rock on with your legendary self 💪

[it's] definitely not a get-rich-quick scheme… I have built a profitable blog by following this course. I got a return on all the money I invested on my site (including the course) in seven months since I first bought it. Till today, I’m getting profits from my blog.
