She Earned $9491 From This YouTube Video

A recent video from Mary Spender…

Mary is a musician and YouTuber who posts videos of her original songs, guitar playing, and music-related commentary 🎶

Per the video, she reveals how her…

66 videos of original music [with about] 4.7 million views

… earned her $5969 🤑

Whereas…

1 video of a guitar [review] with about 5.3 million views

… earned her $9491 💰

Mary says of the review video…

It's a 13-minute video, so it has plenty of time for ad breaks, and YouTube likes it when you make people stick around.

This is much harder to do with a single song that's just three and a half minutes long.

She adds…

If you're putting your original music on YouTube, try out different ways of building a video around your song.

You could try breaking down the stems for those making their own music, or teaching the guitar parts, talking about the writing process, or giving some background to the lyrics…

It's all promotion for you and your music, but it's a new and different type of promotion.

Also, it seems ads aren't the only way Mary monetizes her videos 😎

Checking the description on her review video you can see that she's also monetizing via…

  1. Touring

  2. Online courses

  3. Patreon

  4. CD sales

  5. Streaming

  6. Affiliate Marketing

(Checking out her Patreon: Mary currently has 640 paid members, each paying her at least $5/month. So she's likely earning at least $3,200 per month there.)

My main takeaway from Mary is that it's hard to make money purely from entertainment content.

Generally it’s easier to make money from informational content that helps people in some way.

In the case of Mary's review video, she's helping viewers make a buying decision 🤔

That said, the holy grail seems to be informational content that's also entertaining.

Someone like Kat Norton strikes that balance well, teaching Excel in a fun way, to the point where she was able to earn $100,000+ in one day 🤯

An Encyclopedia for Making Money Online

Today's email is brought to you by Proven Amazon Course 👈

That's the top-rated Amazon course on my site, with 30+ glowing reviews from students 🤩

One student calls it…

An encyclopedia on making money by using the internet creatively… The wealth of information and kindness in that group is next to none. I had my account for about 5 months and ended the year at $64k.

Lots of Amazon courses are super-expensive and underwhelming. Proven Amazon Course is the opposite, with the price set at only $39/month and offering a ridiculous amount of value.

Productized Service Ideas for 2024

Joe Davis is the co-founder of FATJOE, self-described as…

one of the world’s largest providers of outsourced Link Building, Digital PR, SEO Services, Content Creation and Design and Video services.

Joe has apparently “sold over $70m agency services” 😎

In a recent video, he shares his insights on 10 productized services you could offer.

For example…

🔗 Link building for businesses
📝 Content creation services
🌐 Digital PR that offers value beyond just link building.
🤖 AI services like setting up public and internal chatbots.
📈 Lead generation services which are in demand and easy to demonstrate value.
🎨 Design services like DesignJoy but maybe with a different focus point.

You could get started with this kind of thing by going local first.

Try this approach…

Get that working on a small scale, as a side-hustle, then build it bigger.

Another idea here 👇

While I was researching this story, I saw that FATJOE has a reseller program

You could sign up for that and sell under your own brand. They fulfill services such as link building, SEO, digital PR, etc.

Ideal if you like selling but not fulfillment 👍

(To be clear: I have no affiliation with the FATJOE reseller program, not even sure if they do good work. Just something that might be worth checking out. There are surely many alternatives out there too.)

🗂 $96,800 Last Year Selling SEO Services on Fiverr

From the archive, published May 2023…

That’s Terry O’Connor, see his Fiverr profile here 👈

Terry is a friend of mine and he kindly shared some details of his Fiverr journey via DM…

  • Started on Fiverr midway through 2020

  • $1760 earned the first 6 months

  • $23,900 earned in 2021

  • Qualified for Fiverr Pro Jan 2022

  • $96,800 earned in 2022

Last August alone he pulled in more than $14,000 from his Fiverr gigs 💰

And he did all that on the side while working a full-time job.

Terry has been doing web design and SEO work for many years, but often struggled to find clients. He told me that Fiverr has solved his “foot traffic” issue.

Now, instead of trying to find clients to offer his services to, the clients come to him via Fiverr: Terry’s profile has 200,000+ impressions to date and 56% of clients have left reviews 👍

To get started, Terry modeled his Fiverr job listings and thumbnails after other successful Fiverr sellers, such as…

It’s a simple hack: find someone who’s achieved what you want to achieve, and emulate their approach 🧐

The hard part is sticking with it long enough to get good and see results.

Simple Email Signature App Earning $58K/Month

Vol Zastavny is the founder of MySignature, an email signature generator ✍️

Check their site and you'll see an example of the product. The software basically helps people create those fancy signature blocks and links you see at the end of some emails.

Amazingly, MySignature does about $700,000 per year in revenue 💰

Vol writes in a recent interview

I started as a founder of Newoldstamp [another email signature generator], back in 2015 in Ukraine. That was a leap of faith as I quit my job and put all the savings I had into launching an email signature generator.

💡 How he came up with the idea…

I worked for a TV manufacturer… I joined them as a marketer and was responsible for branding as well.

As the company had lots of overseas partners… I wanted to incorporate standardized and branded signatures for all employees.

Unfortunately, at that time, there was no solution for making it centrally… This is what brought my initial thoughts about the email signature solution.

But…

I had no experience with SaaS, being an entrepreneur, software development, or launching my startup. But this idea had never left my mind. After a few months of research and finding a few competitors, I understood there was a niche and opportunity.

So Vol went ahead and built the product 🛠️

Sounds like Newoldstamp did well enough that Vol was eventually able to buy a competing business…

MySignature is currently our flagship product and was acquired in 2019 as a business extension to Newoldstamp. This allowed us to segment audiences and better solve their problems.

The products serve different segments of the market…

Newoldstamp was now targeting medium-sized businesses and small enterprises at the same time.

MySignature covered one-person companies and professionals from different industries.

📈 Their #1 growth channel…

SEO has stayed our major strategy for both products and remains for MySignature.

We have the top 5 positions on our major keywords in Google.

Vol apparently sold Newoldstamp in 2022 for $3.1 million 🥳

But it sounds like he still owns MySignature and that's doing well…

MySignature revenue is almost $700K per year, and it is fully bootstrapped.

Vol's advice for starting a business…

The best time to start was yesterday. So start today!

The world is spinning fast, and most of the time, there won’t be a better moment. So if you have something in your mind, start validating it, researching, and acting.

Lastly, Vol came up with his business idea while still an employee.

He noticed something his employer could be doing better, and eventually built a product to help with that.

Think about the jobs you've had 🤔

What problems have you seen in those companies that you could help solve with a product or service?

Latest Momentos

My latest batch of personal ramblings is here if you fancy a look 👀

From January 5th…

Seeing another site in my niche is earning $1000/day from display ads. No display ads on my site. I just hate how they look, how they degrade the user experience. We could surely earn more money if we had them, but I'd rather earn less and feel proud of my work.

🗂 Her Part-Time Amazon Business = $1800/Month Profit

From the archive, published May 2023…

In a 45-minute video interview, Renee Siddell talks about building and running her Amazon business while working a full-time job.

I’m basically working about 4 days a week now with my full-time job… 40 hours [per week]… and then I have Fridays typically is my day to focus on Amazon and then [also] weekends and evenings.

Renee is based in Phoenix 🌵 and she got started on Amazon in 2020.

She was making progress, but then life got in the way and she had to put the business on hold for a while…

Literally my sales went back down to zero

She started up again in July of 2022, and things have gone well since 📈

I had a really good month in January but now I’ve leveled back down to about $12,000 in sales a month.

Renee says her net profit on that is 15%, so about $1800 per month 🤑

She doesn’t specify exactly what products she’s selling, but she hunts around online and in her local area for good bulk deals – especially on “replenishable” products (eg. toiletries) – buys them up and then resells on Amazon.

I would say more is done online but I also do go into stores…

I’ll take pictures of what’s on the shelves and then come home and I just go through it and see if it’s something that is profitable, something that will sell.

Sales flyers too when they come in… sometimes I’ll send that to my VA, “Hey, this place is running a sale today, if you want to go through it and let me know if you find anything”

One tip she shares near the end of the video is to…

ride your highs a little lower and your lows a little higher

In other words, try not to get overly excited when things are going well, or get too down when things are going poorly.

Neither the good times or bad times will last forever, so don’t take either too seriously. Instead, try to keep an even keel and continue showing up and putting in the work consistently 😎

Hasta la próxima, rock on with your legendary self 💪
