eBiz Insider Business Ideas Newsletter

Hey, it's Niall 👋

The last story in today's newsletter is a great example of the 2 things you need to do to build a successful business…

Persist
Experiment

And it reminds me of something I read recently in Keith Cunningham's book, The Road Less Stupid

There is no such thing as a natural business owner. Successful business owners and entrepreneurs are not born with an innate set of skills that produce business excellence and success. Great business owners work hard, practice, study, test, think, correct, and practice some more.

Alright, let's get into some fresh business ideas.

$1+ Million in 9 Months Selling Car Mats in the UK

Check out this epic report by Glen Allsopp 👇

Lots of great inspiration there, especially if you're into AI.

Also keep an eye out for successful country- or niche-specific businesses that could do well elsewhere 👀

Such as CarMats.co.uk

founded by entrepreneur Ash Young… Started during the covid pandemic, the site generated over £1M in revenue in the first 9 months of operations…

Ash has also moved into a related space with VanMats.co.uk, where he has already hit the 10,000 order milestone.

There's also Farewill.com, "the UK’s best-rated death specialists" that recently got acquired for $16.7M (though they previously raised $39M).

And Hell Gate NYC, a local news site that's only been around for a couple of years and is already earning $42K per month 💰

Glen also has a bigger report on local news businesses here.

WEBSITE BUILDER

New Google Docs Feature = $10K/Month Business Potential

💬 Neville Medhora tweets

Product I wish existed: Google Doc to Website

It would use the new "tabs" feature on Docs to make a full webpage:
- Each tab is a menu item.
- Each page is content area.
- Just update your Doc and site reflects it.

Would be easiest way for average person to maintain a website.

He's referring to this new tabs feature in Google Docs 👈

Similar to Neville's idea is Sheet2Site, which turns a Google Sheet into a website.

That was earning $10K per month a few years back 🤑

I suspect something like Doc2Site could earn even more than that.

SAAS

The Secret Marketing Tool of a $35K/Month SaaS

Simple Analytics is a privacy-focused alternative to Google Analytics that earns $35K per month 💰

One of the founders recently revealed how they get PR at zero cost.

The main way: newsjacking 😎

Whenever there's a big news story related to their industry, they drop everything to write an insightful article about it, then submit to sites like Reddit and Hackernews.

Several of their newsjacking efforts have taken off, resulting in lots of traffic + backlinks, and ultimately customers + revenue 📈

Here's the key part…

To be the first, we needed to be on top of the news in our niche. So, Adriaan created a “newsbot” to notify us immediately of interesting and relevant news items…

Here is a link to our code for the newsbot. Feel free to steal it.

2 ideas from that 👇

First: turn that bot into a SaaS, so anyone can sign up, plug in their industry, connect their Telegram (or other chat app) and have news alerts sent to their phone.

Second: offer the bot as a service and set it up for companies for a one-time fee 👍

SELLING TEMPLATES

$50,000+ From His Notion Template + Service Upgrade

🇫🇷 French entrepreneur Xavier Coiffard shares in an interview how he launched UserBooster a few years back…

I couldn’t find a clear overview of websites to promote the startup [I worked for]. So I started curating it myself and turned it into a Notion template.

3 pricing tiers 👇

– A playbook on how to launch your startup for $49
– The playbook + a list of 500 websites to launch your startup for $99
– A service where we submit your startup to 80 directories for $399

Marketing via building in public on X, later word of mouth and SEO.

In total I made more than 400 sales (and 30 for the done for you service).

And he eventually sold it "for low 5-figures" 💰

So probably $37K in revenue + $15K sale = $52K total.

UserBooster was the first project Xavier built in a "6 projects in 6 months" challenge.

Love that. Forced him to try ideas and execute fast 💪

How about doing a similar challenge yourself?

AUDIENCE BUILDING

He Went From $0 to $18,000 in Only 2 Months

💬 Rob Hallam tweeted about his failures back in August…

In the last 11 months I've made a whopping $0! 🤑

I've been living entirely off savings.

I'm frustrated, tired, and a little lost 😅

He went on to document 4 failures, all web apps.

Rob only had 2k followers on X, but his tweet went viral and someone suggested in the comments…

you should start an MVP service. $2-5k to ship an MVP app, extension, whatever… optional monthly retainer for updates, bug fixes etc.

A month later he'd earned $3000.

The following month: $15,000 🤑

So Rob learned a lot from building his own (unprofitable) apps, and leveraged AI to 10x his productivity.

Shared his journey on X, including his struggles, built an audience 📈

Launched his productized service off the back of that.

Shows the value of building an audience, even if you don't have anything to sell them yet.

How about sharing your journey on social media?

Never know what opportunities you'll unlock 🔓
