eBiz Insider Business Ideas Newsletter

Hey, it's Niall 👋

Two things before we get into today's batch of business ideas.

First, I've put together another ebook with 35 ideas recently featured in this newsletter.

Download links at the end of this email 👍

Second, here's a fascinating story about a cafe in Tokyo staffed by robot waiters that are remote controlled by disabled people working from home.

Gets me wondering what other kinds of jobs will be done remotely in future 🤔

Alright, let's dive into the ideas.

APP DEVELOPMENT

New Programmer's App Already Earning $450K Per Month

Wave.co is an app that transcribes and summarizes recorded audio and phone calls, in any language, using AI 🤖

Founder Josh Mohrer tweeted about the progress the app made in 2024…

🚀 200 → 22,000 paid subscribers…
💸 $450k monthly recurring revenue…

I wrote 99% of the code myself (with AI) as a first-time programmer

That's an insane MRR number, has me thinking that there could be a bunch of niche apps in this space 🤔

How about wave.co but tailored for and marketed to…

  • Remote teams (transcribe and summarize their meetings)

  • Lawyers (consultations, courtroom proceedings)

  • Healthcare professionals (consultations)

  • Call centers (customer support calls)

  • Coaches (calls with clients)

  • Etc.

Josh's success also shows the power of AI-aided coding nowadays.

Suddenly anyone can build an app 💪

Why not you?

Launched 3 Weeks Ago: Already Earning $400 Per Month

That's a testimonial for CodeFast, a new training by Marc Lou…

Learn to code in weeks, not months

Everything you need to build your SaaS or any online business—even as a complete beginner.

You might remember Marc from a previous edition of the newsletter…

🤩 A few more reviews for the training…

"I built my app in almost a week. I shared on all social, and I guess people liked it. I got 140 new users and 5 paying users ($162.5)" – Andrei Bogdan

"I started coding just a week ago and already shipped my first project… my app just hit 8.7K visitors in the last 24 hours!" – Adam

"Hands down one of the best courses I ever took." – Kirk Leaks

MARKETPLACE

Elopement Matchmaking Service: $1.4M in Bookings in Year 3

Simply Eloped is a marketplace site that connects couples with venues and vendors for elopements or small weddings 👰

Founded by Janessa White and Matt Dalley in 2016, the business recently sold for an undisclosed sum.

They Got Acquired has some numbers…

The business brought in $40,000 in bookings in its first year, $300,000 the following year and $1.4 million in year three, White told Hampton. By 2021, she’d built an $8-million business, according to Bootstrappers.

I suspect that last number refers to gross volume 💰

Unclear what kind of cut Simply Eloped takes from each booking.

Janessa also told Hampton in 2023…

To date, we haven’t been an incredibly profitable company but I can proudly say this is the first year we’ll be turning that corner.

They must have received a good offer to end up selling only a year later 😎

And while marketplaces are a tough business due to the chicken-and-egg problem, it's worth considering what other niches this could work for.

Think: where else is it currently difficult for buyers and sellers to connect and do business? 🤑

EBAY

$12K Profit in 100 Days Reselling Clothes on eBay

A recent video by Dave Pelayo…

Dave had a video earlier in the year where he reported earning $32,000 in one month by reselling items on eBay.

Now he's transitioned from electronics to clothing.

After 100 days, he'd sold 519 items for a total of $14,540.

Dave puts his cost of goods sold at $2,076 = $12,464 gross profit.

(He still has 3100 items left to sell, which he values at $77,000)

Another recent video from Dave…

There he recommends starting as an eBay seller by listing unwanted items you have at home.

Beyond that he recommends sourcing items at flea markets, thrift stores, garage sales and yard sales…

literally go on Google, type in flea market near me, that is the best way to do it

NICHE APP

$140,000 in 3 Months With His Quit Porn App

📝 From BoringCashCow

QUITTR is an app designed to help you quit pornography through personalized plans, community support, and tools like a content blocker.

The 19-year-old founder, Alex Slater, built the product in 10 days and generated over $140,000 in 3 months.

💬 Alex says in the interview…

We started with reddit organic and made a few thousand dollars as validation, then our co-founder (Connor) fronted $3k out of pocket to pay for Christian content creators on Instagram to advertise our app and we turned $3k->$35k.

Working backwards from that: what other products or services would [insert niche] content creators gladly promote? 🧐

Credit to Oliver Brocato for that line of thinking…

He's the "sex chocolate" guy who said 👇

Most people start off trying to build the product and brand and then try to figure out how to market it.

Whereas I have a very clear understanding and background of TikTok and viral marketing… so I kind of reverse engineered it… I was like, how do I build a product that’s going to go viral, that lends itself to organically going viral?

FACEBOOK GROUPS

He's Earned $1.9 Million via His Free Facebook Group

A recent video by Dave Smith…

Dave started a Facebook group in 2021 called Audience & Influence, now with ~16K members.

He shows at the 0:20 mark of the video that he's generated $1.9 million in sales from "one of" his Facebook groups 💰

Presumably the same group, since the revenue graph also starts in 2021.

Looks like Dave uses his group to provide free value to members, and eventually direct them to his paid training here.

Another recent video on YouTube 👇

That's by Bex Band, who also built a business off the back of a free Facebook group.

Her group…

Bex says…

What started out as a little Facebook group has actually grown into a pretty big organization… that takes thousands of women on adventures each year… it's also built a career for myself and it's provided loads of really cool opportunities

🤑 Bex leverages her group to make money in a few ways…

  • Organized trips

  • Sponsorships

  • Book sales

  • Speaking engagements

Goes to show that there's still plenty of money to be made via Facebook groups.
