Hey, it's Niall 👋

I shared this story last week…

That entrepreneur (Thomas Kim) made an analogy in his video that I wanted to highlight 🧐

Paraphrasing…

Whenever you say you're going to build XYZ app, someone is always quick to reply that something like that already exists, as if that should stop you.

But why can't there be two apps providing the same solution?

It's like telling someone who wants to open a hamburger restaurant that it's pointless because there's already a McDonalds nearby.

But no, there can be multiple successful restaurants that sell hamburgers, sometimes even right next to each other.

In other words: stop worrying about coming up with an original idea.

It's totally fine to copy someone else's idea that's already working 👍

Provided of course that the market is big enough to support a competitor.

Alright, let's dive into a fresh batch of (mostly unoriginal) business ideas.

NICHE WEBSITES

Single Serving Website Ideas That Can Earn $10K Per Month

💬 Ian Nuttall tweets

Single serving package/wrapper ideas that can make $10k/mo “passively”

The idea is that the user Googles a niche problem, finds your site, pays $5 to fix the problem. Here are 20 examples that could be built in a day (or couple of days) with problems users would be willing to pay for.

The first ten 👇

  1. Convert handwriting to text: 1,000 searches/mo

  2. Extract frames from video: 1,000

  3. Transcribe audio to text: 12,100

  4. Sheet music to MIDI: 880

  5. Repair STL file: 1,000

  6. Subtitle editor: 2,900

  7. Name this compound/chemical structure: 6,600

  8. AI legal assistant: 480/mo + 6600 for “legal AI”

  9. Receipt scanner: 9,900

  10. Compare two word documents: 6,600

I built this in 10 minutes! The primary KW gets 27,000 searches per month. I’m on page 4 already and haven’t even done anything yet therandompokemongenerator.com

Vertical AI Agents = Billion Dollar Business Potential

A tweet from Y Combinator, the famous startup accelerator 👇

At a recent event, a founder asked [OpenAI CEO] Sam Altman "If you were 24 and starting a startup today, what would you build?"

His answer: A vertical AI agent.

👀 They elaborate in an attached video…

there is a straightforward way to generate startup ideas likely to turn into billion dollar companies and not many people knew about it yet…

The ideas I'm talking about are Vertical AI Agents…

It's just some software built on top of LLMs that can automate some particular kind of work.

So, for example, an AI tax accountant, an AI medical biller, an AI phone support agent, an AI quality assurance tester.

There are dozens of categories like these and it's easy to imagine that there will be a billion dollar company in every single one.

Concrete example: AiCarousels.com took something you can do in Canva and made it an entire app that was earning $5000/mo within a year 💰

LOCAL NEWSLETTER

$6000 Per Month From His Tiny Local Food Newsletter

💌 Matthew Schniper is the founder of the newsletter Side Dish with Schniper

Expertly curated food & drink news + reviews inside Colorado Springs' culinary scene

Population of Colorado Springs = 500,000.

Matthew was an editor for a local newspaper and started his newsletter in 2023 after that paper shut down.

He now has 2000 subscribers 📈

And according to a recent interview, that's enough to earn him $6000 per month.

Instead of selling traditional ads or charging subscribers, Matthew created an exclusive 12-member sponsorship model.

Sponsors (restaurants, bars, coffee shops) pay $500/month for year-round visibility 🤑

Each sponsor gets…

  • Logo in every newsletter

  • Weekly listing updates

  • Dedicated feature month with promotional content

  • Optional in-person pop-up events

  • Brand ambassadorship

Sounds like this could be emulated in any city with a good food culture.

The exclusive sponsorship model might also work for non-food local newsletters 👍

$200,000 Per Year From His Boring Agency Business

📝 Founder Reports has an interview with Saleh Ahmed…

the founder of Rank Wizards, an SEO agency that has grown from humble beginnings into a $200,000 [per year] business.

🚀 The origins…

I began my journey in the digital marketing space in 2015 as an SEO writer on Upwork

Saleh grew that business into a big content creation agency, but as Google stopped rewarding content-heavy sites, and with the emergence of AI…

we then pivoted to an organic marketing agency for software startups, with a knack for SEO…

We get paid for our services of SEO, Authority Links, Subject Matter Expert content team management. With some one-time contracts, we mostly have monthly retainer clients.

Nothing fancy there.

Saleh and his team simply learned valuable skills that they could offer to clients 💪

UGC VIDEOS

Use This App To Generate UGC Videos For Clients

Check out ReelFarm 👇

Automate TikToks that drive traffic to your website

it's like a gen z marketing team, but way cheaper

It's basically a quick and cheap way to create UGC videos (example here).

Matt Welter launched the app at the end of December and it earned him $10K in 35 days 💰

I'm thinking you could use that app to create UGC videos for clients.

People are making good money from these types of videos on Fiverr and Upwork 👀

Granted, ReelFarm won't create such highly-customized UGC videos, so you wouldn't be able to charge a high price.

This would be more of a quantity over quality play.

But you could still build a thriving business that way 😎
