NEWSLETTER

$250K From His Psychedelics Newsletter in Year 2

Tricycle Day is a newsletter about psychedelics 🍄

According to a recent interview with the founder, Henry Winslow…

  • Started in 2023

  • $77K revenue the first year

  • Invested all that revenue back into the business

  • $250k revenue the second year

  • Now at 60k subscribers

💰 Main monetization via sponsors…

A single-issue ad buy currently costs around $1,500

And I love this: Henry launched an agency off the back of the newsletter…

Let Go Studio works with clients in the broader psychedelics industry, including retreats, clinics, and coaches, who generally have an ads budget of “at least $5,000 per month.”

Henry and his team provide full-spectrum Meta advertising services: strategy, campaign asset creation, monitoring, and reporting.

Sounds like he's also monetizing via a professional directory and a paid community for psychedelics practitioners 🤑

So he picked a niche he was interested in, built an audience via the newsletter, then figured out several ways to monetize.

How about trying this for another niche? 🤔

FREELANCE APP DEVELOPMENT

Used AI to Build and Sell an App For $750

👀 A recent video from Billy Howell…

Replit is an AI app builder, lets you build apps via a chat interface 💬

Billy says he found a client via Upwork, used Replit to build him an app that tracks KPIs for car mechanics.

🤑 The client paid him $750, with maybe more to come…

I'll be able to charge the guy monthly for keeping it up and maybe adding features down the line, so it's a really good potential recurring revenue stream

Billy shows in the video how to build a similar app via Replit.

One caveat 👉 Billy makes it sound like that was the first app he built in Replit, but he also tweeted recently…

i built 36 apps in @Replit before i sold my first one

So clearly it takes some time and practice to get to grips with it.

But way easier than learning how to code 👍

Lots of opportunities nowadays to build custom apps like this for businesses.

PRODUCT REVIEWS

His Part-Time Side Hustle Earns $5000 Per Month

📝 A recent interview with Tyler Christensen…

Tyler reviews products on Amazon and YouTube.

If you watch his video reviews on Amazon and make a purchase, Tyler earns a commission 🤑

And his YouTube videos are mainly monetized with Amazon affiliate links.

Two years ago he was earning $2000/month doing this 💰

Today…

his product review income is now up to around $5k/mo, and over $130k in total since he started.

We featured someone else doing this successfully a few months back…

Apparently competition is tougher now, and the best strategy is to…

focus on trending or high-ticket items. While bestsellers might have too many competing videos, new products can provide fresh opportunities.

Pretty easy to start this. Main thing you need is a smartphone 😎

JOB BOARD

$673 Per Month From His Niche Job Board

Kyle Davidson is the founder of GetOutdoorJobs.com and recently tweeted his numbers for January 👇

- Gross sales: $673 (18% MoM growth)
- Traffic: 2,400 unique visitors (down 16%)
- Domain Rating: 16 (up from 11 last time I posted)
- Newsletter: 4,097 subs (up from 3,948 last time I posted)
- ~3,000 jobs on the job board..

I work on it about one hour per week

Site started from scratch in March 2023, monetized via featured job posts 🤑

Kyle built the site on his own Job Boardly platform.

$297 one-time fee for that, and you can buy credits to fill your board with job listings.

Might be worth doing some keyword research, see if there's an opportunity for a job board in a different niche 🧐

Sounds like a fairly passive business once you have it set up.

REDDIT

Launch a Service Business With This $29/Mo AI Tool

A story from Tuesday's newsletter 👇

A key growth channel for that founder, Thomas Sanlis…

Using RedReach, I track Reddit discussions about Product Hunt alternatives, allowing me to join conversations where Uneed might be relevant. Don’t underestimate Reddit: It’s growing every day.

📝 From the Redreach homepage…

Redreach finds high impact Reddit conversations to help you naturally promote your product and get more sales.

– Get into relevant Reddit posts ranking high on Google
– Use AI-guided replies to naturally promote your product
– Monitor your brand and competitors 24/7

Here's Thomas on Reddit, and an example of him promoting Uneed.

The idea 👉 sign up for Redreach ($29/mo) and launch a service where you help busy founders promote their product on Reddit.

First step: message 10 founders you know/follow and ask if they'd be interested 💬

Bonus: I couldn't find a Twitter equivalent of Redreach, might be an opportunity to build something there.
