Sneaky $3K/Month Niche Site (Open Source Piggyback)
scrcpy is a popular open-source tool for mirroring your Android screen on a computer.
136K stars on GitHub. No official website – just a repo.
Someone spotted the gap. They registered scrcpy.org, built a landing page with download links and tutorials, and plastered it with display ads.
Per SimilarWeb, the site now gets 479K monthly visits 👀
70% of that is organic search. It ranks #1 for "scrcpy" – above the actual GitHub repo.
Even better: 89% of referral traffic comes from AI chatbots. ChatGPT and Perplexity both send visitors there.
💰 With ~480K monthly visitors and ads everywhere, estimated monthly revenue is $2500 to $3500.
Looks like the site owner contributes zero code to the actual project. They just filled a gap and let Google (and now AI) do the rest.
A little sneaky? Maybe. But there's nothing stopping the original developers from launching their own site.
