VIBE CODING
24K Visitors, $0 Spent: A Live Election Site Built in 2 Days
The official Tamil Nadu election results sites were a mess, so Karthikeyan Gopal built his own with AI as his coding partner β then wrote up how.
On why he bothered...
I wanted to see if I could build a better results site than what exists (everything out there is ad-ridden, slow, and unusable on mobile).
He gave himself one rule π
The constraint: spend nothing. Zero hosting, zero domain, zero database.
A Python script on his laptop scraped all 234 official results pages every 2 minutes and pushed them to Cloudflare's free tier. The global CDN served everyone. AI wrote the code; he decided what to ship.
Then counting day hit π
24,000 visitors
430,000 requests
24 countries
$0 spent
He cut it close with the free-tier limit π€―
My scraper used 997 writes that day. The free tier limit is 1,000. Three writes to spare.
Two days of work, plus 60+ tweaks pushed live as people requested features mid-count.
The playbook: find a timely event with slow, ugly official data β a local election, a sports bracket β and vibe-code a cleaner live tracker on free hosting. Monetize with ads or affiliate links once the traffic shows up π₯
BORING BUSINESS
$60K in His Third Month Coating Garage Floors
Mike Stuart lays tile in Iowa City. Last December he watched a pile of YouTube videos and started coating garage floors on the side β the speckled flake kind you've seen at a neighbor's place π
He practiced on his own garage in February, then did three discounted jobs for people he knew. One bubbled and had to be ground off and redone, so he partnered with two guys who knew the trade. By April they were booked every dayβ¦
We did $60,000 in revenue in April. We'll do $69,000 this month.
Profit over 50%. They charge $8 a square foot and a crew does a garage in a day β $3-4K profit for ten hours' work π€
Nine in ten leads come from Facebook ads β 20-second clips of the grinder and the flake going down, aimed at men over 55.
His best ad leads with the price, which competitors won't. $30 a lead, 20% close, $5,500-6,000 a job π
He'd never run an ad before. AI writes them.
Their edge over the local competition is embarrassingly basicβ¦
We pick up the phone when you call. We show up on time. We don't smell like cigarettes.
Kitting out runs $22-25K, but a grinder rents for $300 a day. Do your own garage first, then go charge someone for theirs π

MICRO SAAS
$108K/Year From One Boring Tool (After 600 Days of Failure)
Orel Zilberman quit a 6-figure dev job to build SaaS products full-time. Then spent 600 days shipping things nobody wanted.
A habit app. A Goodreads clone. A billing tool. Each one followed the same script π
Build it. Launch it. Hear crickets. Move on.
The flaw never changed β he built what he thought was cool, for an audience he didn't have.
What finally worked was almost embarrassingly simple. Orel was already active on Substack, where creators kept complaining they had no easy way to schedule their Notes π
So he built exactly that. Nothing else. As he puts itβ¦
For the first time, I didn't start with an idea I thought was cool. I started with a problem people were already talking about.
That tool is WriteStack. A year in, it's doing over $9,000/month from 350 paying customers β run entirely solo π€
He even shares the full breakdown: around $2K/month in costs, leaving roughly $6,500/month in his pocket.
What's the complaint you hear every day on a platform you already live on?
Build the solution to that π
